The requirement is to dynamically set the file properties of the Exported report document such as ReportAuthor,Repor ttitle Comments etc. VB6 and Crystal Reports 9. I have some old VB6 code that runs crystal reports. I have desinged and have a new crystal report that I wish to add to a new vb6 app. Crystal does not use the VB connection string. My application is a vb application and I am using Crystal report 8.5. It is working fine on 32 bit system and 64 bit system of Windows 2003 server. When I run the same application either on win7 64 bit or on 2008 64 bit, report does not open. I am using vb script to access the database. I set up the workstations for the employees, so I just copy certain CR files and register a couple DLLs to make CR work. Our internal applications are developed using Delphi, and use CR 8.5. It seems to be a little quirky. The CR DLLs that we need to register in Windows have to be registered using both the 32- and 64-bit versions of regsvr32.exe.

Have a look at the SQL Server Profiler tool which is part of the Management Tools.

It will show you all the transactions happening on your database. Add the filters so just for your user / application run the report normally from your application and you will see the SQL being executed on the Server. From what is running it should give you an indication of what data is being grabbed from which tables. It takes a bit of experimentation to get the filters working properly to see the data you want and then you still have to be able to understand the SQL but I've always found it a good place to start when I haven't a clue where the data is coming from. Once you know where the data is, you have several way's of presenting it; Crystal Reports, MS Report Builder (and server), Excel data connections etc.

I have registered the crystal report dlls by using the regsvr32.exe tool.

Regsvr32 crystalreportDLL.dll by running command prompt as administrator.but it is still not working. How should i know regsvr32.exe tool version, means whether it is 32 bit version or 64 bit version tool.? Please help me.i have been suffering from this issue for six months. I will second all that Brandon said above. I have both the 32 bit and 64 bit versions of the crystal redist. Installed on our 64bit server. SOME applications running crystal reports started working correctly after that BUT some did not. It appeared to be a permissions/read/write/access issue, even though they appear correct on both the files and the directories in question.
